It's My "Will Summer Never End?" Pity Party - and YOU Get the Gift!

As you can see by the lack of posting on this blog over the last six weeks, it has been a crazy summer here in EPQDland, where when the kids are home from school it takes nothing short of a miracle for me to accomplish anything of note. It is at about this time every summer that I truly can't quite see the light at the end of the tunnel, even though obviously it is there, shining like the bright yellow beacon of the school bus that it is.

This summer was a bit more stressful than most due to a budgetary crisis in our school district that kept me up at night way too often, but thankfully that has been resolved so that we can get on with the business of singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". Sort of. Said budgetary crisis kicked our start dates back, way back in the case of my incoming Kindergartener, and I will not enjoying a child free ecstatic writhe on the floor of my studio amid all my fabric scraps until September 10.

I know.

Please join me in a pity party. Anyone who comments will be entered into a drawing to win any one of my patterns of your choice. It will probably be a random drawing, but if you can top my date of freedom with one even further away you might well get a prize.

Comment here or on my EvaPaige Quilt Designs page on FB. Winner will be drawn Sunday September 2 at noon.

"THEY'RE GOING BAAAAAACK!" I don't mind the new start date (obviously not the way we had to do it though). I say keep them later in June! Whoo hooo! I'm a mean Mom that way.

The only thing I have to pity is that when my kids are back in school (which they are) their chores go back to being my chores. They have to help out way more in the summer due to loads of free time but during the school year I want them to focus on school, so they only maintain their rooms, put away their clean clothes and help with dishes. I need to get my routine back on track since the carpet has not been vacuumed since they started! OOPS. I did make 15 cards and sewed a few book covers though. Priorities.

I tried to comment earlier from my phone but it didn't work.. When I read your post I had just blogged about my own pity party.. Us? Do the same thing at the same time? What are the odds. ;) lol Hang in there.. summer is almost over.

My daughter is old enough to be out of the school system, but I sure remember those LONG last days of summer before she went off to school and I went back to normal. Smile, it will be quiet there soon.

Is today the first day of everyone being back in school?? Are you rolling around in your fabric scraps right now? :)

OK, I missed the deadline, but I'm waaaay behind reading blogs because MY kindergartener didn't start until YESTERDAY, the 11th! I win! Or lose, depending on how you look at it. He also spends less time in K than he did in preschool, but it's 5 days, and at least now I don't have to drive him, just meet the bus.
